In August of this year Denver will host the its largest convention ever, the 2008 Democratic National Convention. The effort to bring this historic event to our city has been one that has engaged the entire Metro region, Colorado and the multi-state area of the Western United States.

This national event will deliver a sizeable impact on the Denver and the seven counties that encompass the greater metro area, and will be notable too to Colorado and the larger region.

According to Governor Bill Ritter, "The convention will have a significant economic impact not just on Denver, but it will have a ripple effect across the entire state and the West. This will be great for Denver and great for Colorado”.
Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper says the event is typical of theWestern spirit, "The Mile High City embodies the 21st century ideals of economic strength, environmental consciousness, regional collaboration, cutting-edge technological infrastructure and visionary zeal that will help lead America in the year 2008 and beyond."

Area citizens can take great pride in not only playing host to the more that 35,000 guests from around the nation and the world, but also in the planning and efforts but forth to accomplish the details of the event.
  • How was this done?
  • What will make this convention stand out from all that have gone before?
  • What impacts will this unprecedented have on our daily lives?
  • And what opportunities will be presented when media attention brings Denver and Colorado into the limelight?
